190 Gilmartin, My Listing in Tiburon,  Sold On New Year’s Eve for $6,625,000

Wondering what the most expensive homes sold in Marin County in 2019 were? As we embark upon 2020, I thought I would take a moment to recap the most expensive homes sold in our beautiful county in 2019. We are fortunate to live in one of the most picturesque places in the world, and that natural beauty is matched by some of the most stunning homes you can find anywhere.

As 2020 kicks off, I thought it would be worthwhile to take a moment to look back on the Marin County real estate market in 2019 to see the top 10 sales last year. This year the most expensive home sold in Marin County sold for $14,000,000, which was $7.4 million less than the most expensive home sold in Marin in 2018. The exclusive town of Ross takes the lead position yet again this year, with 4 of the top 10 sales.

Some interesting stats: of the top 10, seven sold for less than the asking price and none sold for more than the asking price. Five of the the top 10 homes were sold off market and then placed on the Multiple Listing System (MLS) after the sale, compared to just two last year. And for the first time since I’ve been compiling this list — one home is represented twice, having been bought and sold two times in 2019. Not reflected here are any sales that were off market and not subsequently input into MLS. Also interesting to note is one home, 26 Sky Road in Mill Valley, appears on both my 2018 List and my 2019 list.

The market continued to be strong in 2019, though inventories crept up and pricing flattened a bit. Check out my monthly Marin Real Estate Market Reports here for more commentary on the market. Wishing you and yours a very happy 2020!
