Kentfield Homes for Sale Realtor - Bicycles in front of Half Day Cafe

As a Realtor working in Kentfield, I am pleased to provide this overview of the town as well as the latest Kentfield homes for sale from the Multiple Listing System. Kentfield is a picturesque, upper middle class to affluent community nestled at the base of Mt. Tamalpais and bordered by Larkspur and Ross (see Google Map). Most homes in this community are situated on large, private wooded lots and are designed to blend in with the natural surroundings. Many homes enjoy expansive views of Mt. Tamalpais and the surrounding area.

Kentfield History

Kentfield is an unincorporated town and is governed by the Marin County Board of Supervisors. The name “Kentfield” is taken from the family of Albert Kent, who along with his wife Adaline, settled in the area in 1872. Adaline donated twenty-three acres of land for a community recreation center which later became the site for the College of Marin, which is part of the California Community College system. Albert and Adaline’s son William, who became a U.S. congressman and an ardent conservationist, donated Muir Woods as a national park.

Kentfield Has Some of the Top Schools in Marin County

In addition to the overall beauty it has to offer, many families seek out Kentfield so that their children can attend the Kentfield School District – Bacich Elementary School and Kent Middle School which are in the top rankings of California schools.  As of this writing, GreatSchools.org scores Kentfield schools as 9/10 and 10/10 on their test scores metric. Click here for more information on the Kentfield School District. Kentfield is also home to the College of Marin, which offers credit and non-credit classes to adult students of all ages and interests.

Hiking, Biking and The Outdoors

Kentfield’s scenic beauty makes it a top destination for bikers and hikers here in Marin County. The intersection of College Avenue / Kent Avenue and Woodland Road, just in front of Woodlands Market, is a major connector for bicyclists coming from central Marin and heading out to western Marin. Some of my favorite hikes are in or near Kentfield, including King Mountain and Phoenix Lake. The Crown Road hike, which is arguably one of Central Marin’s most popular trails, is also located in Kentfield.

Kentfield Real Estate: Exclusive Estates and Many Pocket Listings

The Kentfield real estate market is often very competitive with multiple offers and pocket listings. My listing at 8 Woodland Place recently sold in just 2 weeks for $6.1 million. A fair number of the homes and estates in Kentfield are sold via the Marin County Top Agent Network and are never listed on the multiple listing service.

I would be delighted to help you find your dream home in Kentfield. Please scroll down to see homes currently listed for sale, as well as to learn more about the Kentfield lifestyle.

Local Markets

Kentfield is home to one of the finest markets in all of Marin County – the renowned Woodlands Market. Wonderful cheeses and wines in addition to deli items and groceries. One of my go-to spots. Also convenient are Mollie Stones in Greenbrae and Safeway Community Market in San Anselmo.
