April 2017 Marin County Real Estate Market Report | Trends & Market News
Welcome to my Marin County Real Estate Market Report for April 2017! The spring real estate season -- my favorite time of year -- is in full swing and it is an exciting time. Each day we see more properties come on the market, and each weekend there are upwards of 200 open houses in Marin County for buyers to tour. Many of the buyers I see each day are from San Francisco, attracted to the weather, good schools and lifestyle of Marin County.
Drone Photography in Real Estate Marketing | Come Fly With Me
Drone photography is becoming more important and useful in the marketing of luxury real estate. While not appropriate for all properties, drone footage can be an important part of a compelling visual property presentation.
March 2017 Marin County Real Estate Market Report | Trends & Market News
Welcome to my Marin County Real Estate Market Report for March 2017! The spring season has officially begun -- each day I see between 10 and 20 homes come to market in Marin. My open houses have been very busy for my new listing at 65 Los Ranchitos Road in San Rafael. Buyers are out in force after a long winter's hibernation. For those of us who love the real estate scene in Marin, this is our favorite time of year.
Marin County Real Estate Market Report February 2017 | Market News
Welcome to my Marin County Real Estate Market Report for February 2017! We continue to see evidence that the market is cooling, even as we take into account the slower winter months. It remains to be seen, however, whether this trend will continue into the normally-busy spring season.

Bill Bullock, President and CEO of Decker Bullock Sotheby's International Realty, today announced a strategic expansion and re-branding of Marin's number one brokerage, now called Golden Gate Sotheby's International Realty. The full news release is below, but I wanted to share with you my perspective on today's exciting news.
January 2017 Marin County Real Estate Market Report | Market News
Welcome to my January 2017 Marin County Real Estate Market Report. Happy New Year! I hope that you were able to take some time over the holidays to relax and rejuvenate with friends and family. The world of Marin real estate did take a bit of a breather in December on the heels of a slower fall season than the prior year. December is traditionally the quietest month of the year for Marin real estate, and December 2016 was no exception.
The Ten Most Expensive Homes Sold in Marin County in 2016
Wondering about the most expensive homes sold in Marin County in 2016? You've come to the right place! Coming off a booming 2015, we saw a moderation in the 2016 market, with price and sales increases tempering their big gains from the prior year. However it was still a very strong year and we saw some noteworthy transactions in Marin's high-end luxury real estate market.

Thank you for all your support this year -- it is very humbling. I truly mean that. It has been my best year so far in this exciting industry and I could not have done that without you. Houseguest Episode Four: The Series by Sotheby’s International Realty
In Houseguest Episode Four, renowned Philadelphia Italian chef Joe Cicala visits Via Capello, a secluded villa located minutes outside of Florence, Italy. In this stunning countryside estate, Cicala is inspired to cook one of the well-known dishes of this area of Italy, Tagliatelle with Pork Sausage and Mushroom Ragu. Having traveled to central Italy many times over the years, I really enjoyed this episode of Houseguest, but be warned -- your mouth may water when you see his creation!
November 2016 Marin County Real Estate Market Report | Market News
Welcome to my November 2016 Marin County Real Estate Market Report! In last month's report I reported that the Marin real estate market is taking a bit of a breather with a less-robust fall than expected. As we are moving into the cool Autumn days (aren't they gorgeous here in Marin?), the market is continuing to wind down though we did see a bump of sales in October. With those homes now off the market and fewer coming on, we are seeing inventory continue its downward trend. Marin home sellers are beginning to focus on the holidays in November and December and Marin home buyers are also taking their time -- there is less inventory now but also much less competition.
October 2016 Marin County Real Estate Market Report | Market News
Welcome to my October 2016 Marin County Real Estate Market Report! In last month's report I said, "it remains to be seen if we will see a recovery from the summer slowdown in September as we have in the past few years," and I think it's safe to say at this point that we are definitely seeing a plateau in the market, especially at the higher price points (above $2.0mm).
Houseguest Episode Three: The Series by Sotheby’s International Realty
In Houseguest Episode Three, New York public relations and communications executive and entrepreneur Liz Najarian O'Neill trades her hectic urban life where she "works to live and lives to work" for the serenity and solitude of the Berman Buckskin Ranch in Telluride, Colorado.
Architect Mark Mills – A Brief Overview | 1921-2007
I must confess - prior to listing 215 Locust Avenue in San Rafael, California for sale, I had not heard of the talented architect, Mark Mills (1921-2007) who designed it. As I began to research the history of the home, I learned so much about this understated and talented man that I decided to write a blog article focusing on his work.
September 2016 Marin County Real Estate Market Report
Welcome to my September 2016 Marin County Real Estate Market Report! Summer is drawing to a close and the next "mini real estate season" is set to start now that the Labor Day holiday has passed. So far this year we have seen a fairly typical story -- a robust spring season followed by a quieter summer. The weeks after Labor Day typically feature more activity from sellers and buyers eventually tapering off in mid-November as people begin focusing on the holiday season. It remains to be seen if we will see a recovery from the summer slowdown in September as we have in the past few years.
August 2016 Marin County Real Estate Market Report
Friend: "Is this what you call a slowdown???" Thomas: "No, this is what I call August." That's the discussion I have with friends and clients like clockwork every year at this time. I thought it an appropriate way to start my August 2016 Marin County Real Estate Market Report. In Marin County, the only time of year to determine if the market is softening is during the spring mega- season or the fall mini-season.
