Large Front Porch Built for Socializing

The front porch is from a bygone era when residents found their entertainment not on Netflix but by socializing with friends and family. Given San Anselmo’s near-perfect climate, the porch is a wonderful place to enjoy a morning coffee or say hello to a neighbor walking to the park. During winter months when the trees lose their leaves there is a view of Mt. Tamalpais from the porch.

A Great Neighborhood

The home is located on one of San Anselmo’s most sought-after streets, popular for its picturesque homes, level sidewalks and proximity to shopping, dining, parks, and the beloved Millenium Playground / Memorial Park. Faude Hill, a 14-acre hilltop park which features hiking trails and views of San Francisco and Oakland, is just a few minutes walk down Oakland Avenue.

Draper Farms is located just off San Francisco Blvd. and offers fresh organic fruits and vegetables as well as eggs and honey to local residents who enjoy harvesting the items themselves.

Sorich Park lies at the end of San Francisco Blvd and offers great hiking with a trail that leads up to one of my all-time favorite Marin hikes, the Ridgewood Fire Trail, which offers incredible views of the entire San Francisco Bay Area.

The nearby Redhill Shopping Center features a Safeway as well as banking, a drug store, pet supplies store, hair salons, cleaners, and several restaurants spanning cuisines from Italian to Chinese to Mexican.

More About San Anselmo

San Anselmo, a quaint, inviting town bordering San RafaelRoss and Fairfax, continues to maintain its small town charm. The main shopping area is a welcoming curving boulevard of boutiques, coffee shops, galleries, antique shops and popular restaurants. The most visible landmark in town, a beautiful stone castle that overlooks San Anselmo, is actually the San Francisco Theological Seminary, established in 1892 to train Presbyterian clergy.

Incorporated in 1907, San Anselmo is surrounded by trees and hills and offers mid- to higher priced housing in the flats as well as the hills overlooking town. The Ross Valley School District serves both San Anselmo and Fairfax and is very highly regarded by parents. There are many hiking trails nearby offering options for both hikers and bicyclists.

In addition to the postcard-perfect downtown filled with wonderful boutiques and restaurants, San Anselmo’s main shopping center is the Redhill Shopping Center, anchored by Safeway and CVS Pharmacy. Access to the 101 freeway is via Sir Francis Drake Boulevard or San Rafael’s “Miracle Mile.”  You can read more about San Anselmo HERE and HERE, or watch a brief video overview.

San Anselmo’s sunny climate, inviting downtown, many recreational activities, excellent schools (GreatSchools.org ranks San Anselmo schools 9 out of 10 as of this writing) and strong sense of community make it a wonderful place to live.
